Bishop

Bishop

Bishop is a fit man in his late forties. His tanned skin is criss-crossed with scars and his face is weather worn. Even though he is of average height, his wide shoulders make him look squatter than most. He is missing fingers on his left hand, lost long ago to a trap deep in the catacombs of a forgotten ruin. He wears the same travel-worn clothes to the Hovel (the nickname for the Wanderer’s headquarters in Ferryport) as he does when on the road.

Bishop if the Wanderers

Background
Bishop was the best of the Ferryport Wanderers in his younger days, risking the darkest roads and the deepest ruins. He was always fair with those who traveled with him, never seeking more fame or fortune than his fellow Wanderers. Unlike most, he often drifted between traveling groups, or went on the road on his own. He is well traveled, carrying messages and packages from Ferryport to the Border Forts in the North or the Wastes of the East. Even though he still spends time traveling, he accepted the position of Lead Wanderer of Ferryport five years past. Each year since, he has been overwhelmingly reelected.

Motivations
Bishop does not care for the politics of Ferryport beyond how it affects his fellow Wanderers. He pays the dues to the city, and lends the company’s services at a very discounted price to officials of the city. In Ferryport, those who wear the badge of the Wanderers are well respected due to Bishop’s leadership.

Bizarre Bazaar

Bizarre Bazaar is an oddities and specialty shop located in North Kowal. The owner, Kabir Chaudhary, is a straightforward man who just wants a good deal and the best items. He is a hard man to barter with, but he is fair. He deals in contraband, with seemingly no fear for himself.

This three story shop is painting gaudy colors and has all manner of tapestries hanging from flag poles, beams, or plaster walls. The bright green front doors stand open and the smell of incense drifts out.

Inside fabrics of all kinds line tables, while more valuable looking items are behind glass. Everywhere you look strange things can be seen. A rat skeleton with the head of a fish. A moth three times the normal size skewered to a board. Skins from unknown creatures. Many containers covered in runes or symbols. Along the back wall, behind the counter weapons and armor hang from pegs in the warm wooden walls.

A man sits behind the counter, a broad smile flashing white and gold teeth under a healthy moustache. His thin frame hunches slightly, but his fingers and deft and seemingly in constant motion. His brown skin is extenuated by the garish colors he wears.

Welcome welcome my friends. Welcome to the Bizarre Bazaar.

Caitir Hundred-arrow

A ranger from the Northern, born between Tiren and Uthgard. She came south to avoid the wars, but it seems wars are everywhere. She spends most of her time at Piper’s Pub when she is not out on a job.

Cats Herbs

A small shop in the Northeastern part of Kowal, it is across from Hynes Park. It is a both a storefront and the home of the Catniks. They make all sorts of poultices, herbal remedies, and potions. They all work with varying degrees of success.
You approach a small two story building, its foundation solid, but the whole structure leans back and forth as if the builder has been drunk. The windows are all covered in glass, a rare commodity, but they are yellowed from the inside. You open the crooked door and the smells of herbs and incense hit you.

Bottle, vials, and pouches hang everywhere. Herbs hang drying in every available space. 4 different cats lounge in various places about the small shop. A tall broad man, with hunched shoulders and small glass walks to the front counter.

“Well, ahhh, hello there. What might you need?” His accent is thick.

Behind him a woman, looks up from grinding something into a bright purple powder. Her eyes are kind and her smile welcoming.

Children of the Light

Some in the city do not like the Baron aligning with the North. They have formed a resistance to this and protest in the streets. They mark houses and buildings with graffiti. They attack elves and other non humans. They have strong leadership and funding, but no one knows who pulls the strings.
When seen, they wear silver masks that look like demons, mimicking and ridiculing the masks that the Orovari wear.

Church of the One

Besides Rivenhall castle, the church is the largest building in Ferryport. While most of the deities of Uteria are represented there, it looks to the Creator as it’s patron god. During the crusades of the Knights of Valetta, most places of worship in the West became focused on the Creator. Long gone are small churches with multiple deities, spirits, and local beliefs, replaced by a watchful Creator who is best honored with gold, prayers, and obedience. The Church is run by Archpriest Prilimos, who is quite influential within the city walls.

Companions

Called a thieves guild by some in Kowal, the companions see themselves as a specialized workforce for hire. Sure, they may be hired to relieve someone of a valuable item, but they also provide spying and infiltration for the nobility and governing body of Kowal. They are allowed to exist because they are beneficial to those with money and power.

The above-board side of the guild is run out of a large building in the Oldtown district. All services offered through this building are legal, such as protection, finding buyers, or research. This guild is run by a single president and has several contract groups for hire.

In truth, the Companions is run by a three-person council, and the identities of those individuals are kept secret. They go by the titles of Hand, Eye, and Hood. This higher-tier service system provides services beyond the law. To gain access to these services, one must be vetted and trusted.

While decisions are made for the whole guild by the council of three, each is in charge of their own company. The Hand is in charge of the thieves. They are not your common pickpockets or cutpurses; these are highly skilled cat burglars and thieves. The Eye is in charge of the spies of the Companions. For a fee, they will infiltrate and report back on any confidential information you can imagine. The Hood specializes in those who want a new life or smuggle in goods with no records.

The Companions House is a sprawling mansion found on Bulwark Lane. The large four-story manse is a maze of rooms, studies, offices, and halls. Those who visit often leave from a different door than they entered, leaving them disoriented. Across the street is the towering Friend and Foe Inn, a business linked to the Companions.

Crane Company

Crane Company Mercantile is a trading companies that trades up and down the Weron River. They have a lot of funding and a wide trade network.

They are also well known for the collection of ancient art and artifacts. They often sell and trade these goods to the rich and powerful of Uteria.
